The title 'Mega Star' was seen for the first time in the publicity posters and titles of 'Marana Mrudangam'. This title was offered to him by that movie's producer K.S.Rama Rao. The movie was released in the year 1988. Initially, the title did not get enough popularity as expected. It was after the release of 'Kodama Simham' and because of the song "Star Star.. Mega Star..Star..", the title got huge popularity and subsequently the title 'Mega Star' has been settled permanently for Chiranjeevi.

It seems Meher Ramesh, who offered the title 'A One Star' to Jr. NTR, has observed it and he is now following the same strategy. There is a song in 'Shakti' with the title 'A One Star' and this is expected to be the first song of the movie just like how 'Mega Star' song was the first song in 'Kodama Simham'. 'Mega Star' song was a super hit those days. Now we have to wait and see how 'A One Star' song will be.
